Shaun Moores added as keynote for Conditions of Mediation preconference

Over at the Conditions of Mediation blog/website we have announced that Shaun Moores, Professor of Media and Communications in the Centre for Research in Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Sunderland has been confirmed as our sixth keynote speaker. Professor Moores is well-known, generally and to me as well, as one of the key figures in the ethnographic tradition of media studies, and particularly that of audience research concerned with everyday practices and environments of media use. In his recent book Media, Place and Mobility he directs his attention to the connections between media use and questions of place-making and mobilities. He argues, similar in some ways to David Morley, for a ‘non-media-centric’ media studies, but he is particularly interested in seeing this through a phenomenological and, to some extent, nonrepresentational point of view. Should make for some very interesting debates alongside the other keynotes, who will be participating within a panel format.
